Ex-FIFA president Sepp Blatter’s pay was under $ 4 million dollars in 2015.

FIFA on Thursday reported losses of $ 122 million in 2015, a year when bribery scandals scared off potential World Cup sponsors and engulfed top soccer executives in criminal prosecutions in the U.S. and Switzerland.

The governing body’s financial disclosures show it spent $ 62 million in legal fees last year. FIFA paid $ 3.76 million in salary to its disgraced former president, Sepp Blatter. The 80-year-old Blatter signalled Thursday he would appeal the six-year ethics suspension that currently has him banned from all soccer activities.

On Thursday, Switzerland’s attorney general opened criminal proceedings against Blatter’s former second-in-command, Jerome Valcke, who has been accused of “criminal mismanagement” in his eight years as FIFA’s secretary general. Valcke was paid $ 2.2 million in 2015.

The disclosure of salary numbers is part of a push for transparency promised by FIFA’s new president, Gianni Infantino, who replaced Blatter last month and has pledged to enact reforms at the Switzerland-based organization.

FIFA has positioned itself as a victim of the widespread corruption that led the U.S. Attorney in Brooklyn to indicted dozens of FIFA executives and members, as well as sports marketing executives involved in television broadcast deals.

FIFA claims it deserves to recoup millions of dollars its own members allegedly diverted for personal use through fraud and racketeering schemes. FIFA’s American law firm, Quinn Emanuel, filed papers with the U.S. District Court in Brooklyn this week seeking restitution.
