The thief struck about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday while Harris, according to his Twitter account, was in the Bahamas with his husband and children.

A thief stole a bench in front of the Harlem home of actor Neil Patrick Harris — but a suspect was quickly nabbed with the help of the star’s house manager, police sources said Thursday.

The thief struck about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday while Harris was in the Bahamas with his husband and children.

Harris’s house manager, Damian Acosta, 31, decided to play detective after finding the bench, worth about $ 500, missing from the front of Harris’ Fifth Ave. brownstone, sources said.

Acosta went snooping around the neighborhood and found the thief trying to sell the bench, sources said. He called 911 and cops showed up and arrested Darrian Humphries, who was charged with possession of stolen property.

Humphries, 34, has eight prior arrests, including one for stolen property, two for selling drugs and one for possession of synthetic marijuana, police sources said.

Harris’ butler, Damian Acosta, 31, decided to play detective after finding the bench, worth about $ 500, missing from the front of Harris’ Fifth Ave. brownstone, sources said.

It appears that Humphries is homeless and had been staying at a psych ward on Wards Island.

Acosta declined to comment. A woman at Prediction Productions, Harris’ production company located in the brownstone’s basement, said neither he nor Harris are “trying to make a big deal about it.”

But Acosta won high praise from a worker at the nearby West Harlem Deli.

“We need more people like that in the community,” said Sonia Ortiz, 45. “People who won’t just let somebody take something that’s not theirs.”
